This was to be a walk in the past for Ted while he took pictures of places he once inhabited, and then shared them with his sister.
We travelled to many places around Winnipeg and then went to meet Nattacha at Joey Polo Park Restaurant for lunch.
I'd met Nattacha when I flew here in the Airvan during its delivery flight to Vancouver with David, of course this was at a Thai Restaurant.

We three took a drive out to historic Lower Fort Garry where students staff the place to show life in the early days of trading here.

Our departure from Winnipeg was at 15:48z and this first leg was to Dauphin Manitoba where we arrived at 17:17z.
The route was via Delta Beach at the bottom of Lake Manitoba and then past the high ground west of Mc Creary.
At Dauphin we added 39.8 litres of Avgas.

There's not much space for luggage in a Chipmunk, so the bag is a cushion with side pockets.
Polo Mints or Trebor Extra Strong Mints are essential items for long flights.

Takeoff from Dauphin was at 17:59z followed by landing at 19:05z at Yorkton Saskatchewan whereupon 32 litres of Avgas were added.
They are very friendly at Yorkton airport and they have a courtesy vehicle to enable visitors to go for lunch.
Mano's Restaurant was recommended to us, a few kilometres down the road at the nearby Parkland Shopping Mall.

Lunch was very good... The CR-V was already full of petrol and so I left a fiver towards the next refuel.

The agricultural operator at Yorkton uses a highly modified Chipmunk for Ag/Spray pilot training.

When we stopped for fuel 18 years ago as we travelled west in the Chipmunk from St Hubert Quebec, Saskatoon ATC paid the aeroplane a compliment and so we had to drop by.
Besides Saskatoon would make a good night stop... Takeoff from Yorkton was at 21:54z and landing was at 23:36z; 61.1 litres of fuel was added.

Routing into the prevailing wind across the Prairies is best done at low level... No worries about engine failure as there are plenty of places to put down.

View of a classic 'Railway Hotel', The Bessborough, from my room in the Delta Saskatoon Downtown Hotel.

In the evening we walked across the bridge to the Yard & Flagon pub for a late bite and an excellent local brew beer.
