Update Continued From Part One
As you can see the approach
is surrounded by trees and these often make the landing
challenging in the wind.
26th June for circuits and
challenging landings
The Milltown Bar & Grill
Me with two of my brothers, David and Gary.
David Lai and Gloria organised a get together at the pub. The
next day I would turn seventy!
SOP is to fly on your birthday, but this time the weather was too
grotty.
Cardinal
Rory and I flew to Chilliwack via the
scenic route, up Alouette Lake,
across Stave to Chehalis Lake, and then over Harrison Mills.
Solo Flight To
Delta Heritage Air Park, 29th June
Gary flew me to Chilliwack in the Cherokee 140 as I was asked to
bring the Cherokee 160 to Delta for it's owner Nick.
There was a good BBQ and a
friendly gathering at Delta Heritage Air Park with a good turn
out of aeroplanes.
I apologise for not posting pictures of all of the aircraft, but
I have limited time to do this update... I've spent the whole day
doing this, it's 21:25 as I type this sentence.
WestJet Engineer's Strike
I chose a flight back on
Sunday which cost me more than what a flight would cost me a few
days later, I was due back to help Koko with her move to her new
house in Devon.
But WestJet cancelled my flight, and booked me on one the next
day, this too they cancelled and offered me a refund; then there
was silence.
A refund would take thirty days, and meanwhile I would have to
pay for another ticket!
There was no reply to my messages, absolute silence, and so I
decided to go to the airport and see a person.
I queued with other passengers to get to a check-in agent, and
she very efficiently via a call to her supervisor had me booked
on British Airways direct to Heathrow, or so I hoped!
I did not waste my extra days, rather, I flew with Johnny in the Citabria and on the departure date I flew with Pakorn who had come over from Chiang Mai for a visit.
Wednesday was a worry and
so I showed up at the British Airways Check In with my pseudo
WestJet - BA coupon in the hope of a seat being available.
The agent managed to find me a seat on the fully booked BA84
flight, if I had been any later it might not have happened.
Then it was back to The Flying Beaver Pub for a goodbye drink and
on to the flight.
At the Flying Beaver.
The flight back was done in record time from Vancouver to London as we must have been in the Jetstream doing over 600 knots ground speed at times.
